What is the difference between the .ie domain and a .com?
A highly inflated Price!
.com is the universally recognized, Top Level Domain Name (TLDN) "Internet address", along with .net, .info and .biz,
.ie - Simply conveys that the owner is either Irish or operating from or has connections with Ireland. The Irish Country Code Top Level Domain Name (ccTLDN) is a national "Internet address" which in Ireland is often offered at a much higher cost both for the Domain and Hosting on an Irish Server - unlike for instance, the UK’s .co.uk or the American .us which is offered at a greatly reduced premium.
Many businesses will register a .ie because their preferred and universally recognized .com name is already taken.
